June 29th Dublin

Well how can you top a night like last night?  You don’t try. Have the Hotel breakfast, find the Hop On Hop Off bus stop, sit back and enjoy seeing Dublin. Today was cold and windy but it was still nice. Some photos.

One of the streets going through the Guinness complex  many many acres in Dublin

One of the gates to Guinness.
Wellington monument. He was Irish, but wouldn’t admit it.

Close up of a street lamp.

These are not grain silos. They hold Guinness beer to be bottled.

One of the oldest pubs in Dublin.

Seagulls swimming in the river.

Road to City Hall
The Post Office where the 1916 armed Easter rebellion for Independence took place with the reading of a declaration of independence. All of the people involved were executed by England.

We had lunch at a nice place. Just sandwiches but it was nice.

We boarded the bus and headed back to a shopping area we had seen on the first go round on the bus.  Mary Ann needed several nails repaired and we saw a nail salon. She gets her nails repaired and I wait for her in a Pub.

The Temple Pub

And it seems they are Ohio State football fans.

Dublin is a very diverse city. However I am starting to believe that Korean restaurants are all over the world now. And check out the name of the Middle East restaurants name.

And they allow horse drawn carriages in the city. Sweet

Looks like it is heading to a wedding.

A couple of typical pubs.

Didn’t go in this one. Might have too many “g’s”
In it’s name.

Trinity church. And I love the overpass.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

And so back to the hotel to rest and determine which pub to go to tonight.

I watch Japan lose against Brazil while Mary Ann rests. Then ask a different concierge for a good pib besides Kennedys. I didn’t want to go back there and tarnish the memories of last night.
So we get in a taxi and go to his recommended pub. Filled with Irish music over speakers ( not live) and more people from the USA than I have seen the entire trip. But we stayed and ate. I had Guinness stew which was good and Mary Ann had potato and leek soup which tasted like pea soup. Oh well. Every day can’t be shinny bright, every evening something to remember.

My Guinness stew.

Mary Ann’s pea/potato and leek soup.

And how can you trust an Irish Pub that uses Coors Beer coasters?

So that was our night plus stopping at Lidl’s for late night dessert and breakfast snacks for the morning.
Good Night
