June 10th Vizille
Our last full day in Vizille. And just when we were getting the hang of it.
Mary Ann passing my espresso coffee through the window.
And me getting the baguette from Marco through the window.
After a light breakfast, we helped Jessica with her lesson plan for a friend. Forgot how time consuming that can be. And after a short break, we went to see the gardens at the Chateau. Very beautiful. Vizille’s Chateau is known as the start of events that lead up to the French Revolution that overthrew the monarchy. The Chateau owner agreed in July 1788 to allow the Assembly of the three states to meet in Vizille’s Chateau. The Assembly had been banned to meet in Grenoble by the King. Many French come to visit Vizille for that reason.
The Chateau is under going major repairs.
A beautiful rose garden
A statue of Hercules.
The Chateau from the gardens.

After this it was time for a beer and spritzers. Behind Mary Ann is the main street of Vizille.
Marco and Jessica joined us. It is amazing how many people use bicycles all over France and how drivers respect their right to use the streets and back roads.
Back to our apartments to rest before a home cooked meal at Jessica and Marco’s place.
Nice rest and packing for our trip to Beaune France tomorrow. Will drive the backroads through the Alps and valleys of them. Not a long trip about 3 hours. Nice and slow and less crowded since ski season is over.
So dinner and cards at Jessica’s and Marco’s. One of her specialties a sardine casserole. So good with sardines from the specialty store in Bordeaux. While Jessica cooked, I trimmed the rose bushes in the back yard of the dead rose buds. Now they will bloom again. And then later we played 5 crowns and played music.
Now to bed and get ready for the trip to Beaune.
