Well after a travel day like yesterday, today was a sleep in day. And I did. Didn’t get going till after 12:00 noon. But it rained all morning so just as well.
Finally got on the Internet this morning after the owner repeatedly gave me the wrong password. That was a relief.
One thing about getting around Edinburgh. It is impossible to just hail a taxi. They have to be called. But most are either not on WhatsApp or have calls from the USA blocked. Last night borrowed the cook's phone to get home. And everyone speaks English. Or at least some form of it.
So today I gave into progress and used Uber which it appears everyone else does here. Ride came in 5 minutes to take us to Edinburgh Castle so we could walk down not up the Royal Mile. We opted not to tour the castle. 1. A long wait. 2. $55.00 each. 3. We have seen many castles in Europe. They show you stuff and tell you about it and you forget what they said the next day.
Outside photos I have.
Of course a bagpipe is playing

Edinburgh Castle

Mary Ann was there

And so was I

Looking down the Royal Mile from the Castle
It was a cold damp day in Edinburgh. Go figure. Who would of thought that would happen? Anyway, I bought myself a nice zip up tartan jacket that was warm and will work well in North Carolina.
A secret little alley.
Church near Edinburgh Castle.
Statue of Sir Walter Scott along the Royal Mile.
We went to a pub for lunch, but they had run out of mashed potatoes. So we left. But they had made light globes out of whiskey bottles. Cute.
So lucky us. We walk out of one place, and end up here. What a difference. You can see the special booths on the left where we sat and ate.
Inside the private booth.
Is sitting in the private booths with our drinks and meals.
I had a lamb pie with haggis on top. It was delicious.
Mary Ann had a fish pie that she loved too.
And we both had Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert.
View of the pub from the front.
A sock store Kirsten would love.
There goes a month’s salary Kirsten. Lol
Another secret alleyway.
It led to here.
The Royal Mile gets quieter further down.
A neat clock tower
Ditto
Mary Ann liked this bas relief. Scottish coat of Arms.
And they have take out pig.
Another pub. More drinks. Mary Ann ordering.
Hey look in Paris you eat croissants. In Edinburgh you drink.
The Kings Gallery. Not sure what it was but marked the end of the Royal Mile.
Neat wall on the walk home.
And yet another church.
It is an uphill walk back to our place. Once Mary Ann knows where we are, we split up and she heads home and I go searching for some supplies. I found a small store across from where we ate last night that was a mini Lidls. Bought ice and junk food and went back home. Nice day.
