June 19th. Inverness

After a more than great breakfast at our B&b in Newtonmore, we head off to Inverness. But of course being us, we need a stop along the way. Some background. We watched “Monarch of the Glen” years ago and found that we were very close to the Castle where it was filmed. Road Trip!  We head down a narrow road and it is fine till other people start using it. That plus the Europcar lady told me I needed a bigger car. The one she gave me was too big. We never saw the castle but got these photos on the road.

We never saw the Manor House because it is off the road and you can only walk there. Sounds like a lot of work. We did get a photo of the gate house.

Let me digress. When picking up the car in Edinburgh, the lady told me to upgrade. “Big” mistake. Roads are narrow and this car is not. So I decide to go to Inverness airport and get a smaller car. After about 3 hours and penalty for scratching. We have a car that better fits the roads we are on now and later. Such a nice switch.

The car now fits on these roads. We stopped at Culloden battle field but didn’t need to pay to see a field full of grass.

Back to our car and to the place we will be at for two nights. Close to lock Ness. Which is for tomorrow. I call to ask for directions and get someone from the Philippines  go figure.

In this part of town, car parking is difficult. But luckily tje local church sells parking and that is where I land.

Just before this we go to Lidls for supplies. One can only eat out so much.
