June 22nd Isle of Skye II

So today is the day we drive around the Isle of Skye to see the mountains and the sea and where they meet. Photos do not do it justice but I will post some anyway. These photos comprise a clockwise circuit of the island as best can be done in one day.

First stop was Dunvegan where we only stopped for some gifts. Too early for lunch. There was a castle there that looked nice, but after Monty Python’s castle how could I go to a less famous one.

 Some shots along the way.

Up over a small mountain.

Our main road with mountains.

A small loch.

Next stop was Uig. Nice small town and a hotel that had great food.

View of old defense turret and town from the hotel we ate at.

And of course sheep everywhere.

My sandwich and salad. Loved how they served the fries in a little frying basket.

The road back around this side of the island took us above the town.

This road became a single track road with pullovers every so often to allow oncoming cars and trucks to pass. Quite exciting at times. And of course lovely scenery.

Mountains do crumble.

Today Mary Ann attracted a cow instead of sheep.

I will say this about the Isle of Skye. It is a hikers paradise. People parked everywhere, put on their backpacks and hiked everywhere. But Mary Ann and now maybe me are not hikers so we drove 99% of the day. I know Jessica and Marco would love it here. And the weather changes all the time. We put the heat on this morning and there was a bit of rain. By the time we were back it was warm, the sun was shinning and the caravan windows were open.

And now out to dinner. Small dinner. Had delicious smoked salmon appetizer that suited us. So good there are no photos.

And then we head back to the hotel where Drambuie was first distilled.  Had to have a glass of that there. Well maybe more than one with a souvenir glass.  A very good night.

Guess what this apparatus does.

A happy couple after a good day.

And for you non believers, Nessie followed us here.
