June 25th. Cows and Sheep.

Well if yesterday was quiet, today was not. It all started with a trip to an estate farm where we had pastries for breakfast. We then got back in our cars and followed a farm ranger’s car single file down to the fields where the long haired cows known as “coos” were kept. Some first photos.

Not a Coo but wanted his picture taken.

Yes that’s real hair.

This one jumped up to eat.

Our farm ranger’s explaining everything.

Mary Ann feeding one of the Coos. They have no upper teeth

We then drove to a different field where more and less tame Coos were.

We then drove around a bit and found this lovely hotel and restaurant where had lunch before our next adventure.

Again I couldn’t wait so what you see is half a Scotch egg. It was soooo good.

And Mary Ann had mussels. Also delightful.

We rode around a bit more, gases up the car and went to our next appointment at 3:00 pm.
A sheep dog demonstration.  These dogs are so smart. Or sheep are so stupid. Maybe a bit both

This sheep has been singled out for shearing.

He uses hand shears most of the time.

And of course I had to help out.

Our Shepard host taking questions.

And after the shearing, lambs had to be fed and puppies held.

And a calf as well.

I guess you could say we had a Scottish Farm Adventure Day.

So we end this wonderful day eating chicken curry at a local hotel. There will be no pictures of that meal. Back to our room and to bed for a travel day. Not over the mountains but around them. We are done with narrow mountainous roads. See you in Ballater.

Good night
