June 4th Greysac

Wine day today. In 1998 Mary Ann and I traveled to Bergadan and toured the Greysac winery. And they didn’t give tours. So today we along with Jessica, Marco and Marco’s Uncle Pierre tried to duplicate this process. No luck. We found it but new owners and a lot changed. But we still managed to buy some 6 bottles of Greysac at bargain prices.

Did I mention that it was rainy and cold. But still got some photos.

Next stop was try and find a place to eat. There are no big cities in Bordeaux wine country and remember in France restaurants close at 2:00 pm till around 7:00 pm. We found one with a price fixed meal for $25.00. We took it. I had steak tartar and a Cofflutti for desert. Very nice.

After that a car ride back to the hotel in Bordeaux and another adventure while Mary Ann took a nap.

The whole time here I kept hearing about the “Sardine Store” So I had to see it. The 4 of us hop on a light rail tram (remember Mary Ann is napping) and head to central Bordeaux City. Very much like Paris but smaller and Jessica thinks nicer. Some random photos.

And then we get to the Sardine store where Marco’s Uncle insists on paying for my sardines. Photos of the store and my sardines.

And yes it is filled with sardines, some over 30 years old. And of course pastes from sardines.

Back to the hotel after photos by the Bordeaux City fountain. Bordeaux is indeed a very nice

Finally back at Hotel and Jessica, Mary Ann and I head to dinner. It’s a no brainer. Back to same one from last night and another helping of the beef bones for me. Tonight I got 2 for some reason. Perfect meal.

Outside the cafe at night

We ended the night drinking at our hotel with 2 men from England and Scotland giving is tips on what to see when we get to Scotland.
